Casey Koehler studied filmmaking at the University of Colorado (Boulder). She currently lives in Louisville, Colorado.
Koehler experiments with a variety of analog and digital techniques including alternative darkroom processes, hand-painting, optical printing, remixing and abstraction of images using computer programs. She works with both original and found footage and a utilizes a variety of film or video formats and effects to create new context and/or a layered, textured aesthetic.
Her work has been featured at international venues such as Toronto International Film Festival in Canada; Rotterdam International Film Festival in the Netherlands; and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Lisbon, Portugal. National venues include Anthology Film Archives in New York; Pacific Film Archive in Berkeley, CA; Ann Arbor Film Festival in Michigan; Walker Art Museum in Minneapolis, MN and Corcoran Art Gallery in Washington, DC. She has screened work locally at the Dairy Arts Center, the CU Museum of Art, Denver Contemporary Art Museum, Boulder Public Library, and the Stan Brakhage Film Forum. One of her works is part of a public art piece on display at Denver International Airport.
